Good Morning, Sunshine!

Today I had to wake up at 5:10 AM. Almost needless to say, I am exausted. But, I still did my makeup! After applying foundation and powder, I focused on my eyes. They looked a tad bit puffy, but I couldn't fix that. All the way. I've learned a few "wakeup makeup" tricks from my used-to-be makeup artist/dealer mom, my friends, books and magazines and, of course, the good old internet, so I was ready for this challenge.

I started out with a shimmery light pink from a Wet 'n' Wild eye makeup pallette. I then applied a rose gold to my crease and the outer edge of my top eyelid. I finished my shadow application with a white-cream highlight on the brownbone.

Then I moved on to eyeliner application. I took a grey-black and lined the top of the lashline, continuing across the entire top eyelid. I took a creme shadow in a beige and lined the lower waterline. I then lined my below the waterline with the grey-black liner and blended them a bit together. A coat of mascara finished it off.

After a powder/foundation touch-up, I used bronzer. I dipped a big puffy brush in the compact, blew off excess and brush it on to wherever the sun would hit (nose, forehead, chin, cheeks) with a bit more color on the cheeks for a rosy glow. On top on that, I added a brighter rose pink blush on the apples of my cheeks.

A pink gloss completes this look. Good morning, Sunshine!

Welcome Matte

Matte makeup. It's a trend that swept the nation last Spring. Well, today I was bored and I needed to do my makeup for church this evening, so that's what I did! Actually, I researched makeup looks be I wanted something new and different. I came across a picture of Bella Thorne and immediately knew what I wanted to do: this matte look!

Here are the steps to get this look.

Step 1: apply moiturizer and primer. I actually mixed my aloe cream and E.L.F. mineral infused primer together to create a very shine-free base. I blotted away any extra before moving on to step 2.

Step 2: apply foundation and set with loose powder. I used L'oreal True Match in porcelain (W1) and Artistry Loose Powder in Medium.

3: apply a very small amount of gold shadow to you entire eye, followed by a very small amount of matte brown shadow to add some contour in your crease. I used a golden-pink shimmer shade from a Barbie Stila palette and a deep brown from the Wet'n'Wild palette "Floating On a Cloud". I used very, very little.

Step 4: line eyes with a dark brown gel liner. I used Essence gel eyeliner.

Step 5: take loose powder and dab it on the eyes, creating an even more shine-free look.

Step 6: apply a few coats of mascara. I used one by Wet'n'Wild called MegaLash.

Step 7: brush on a powder blush. I used the blush from ICING by Claire's City Nights palette.

Step 8: exfoliate lips and apply a matte lipcolor. If you don't have one, use a gloss or lipstick and brush powder over it. I used E.L.F. Matte Lipcolor in natural and some loose powder over it.

Viola! You're done! You've rolled out the Welcome Matte.

Summer-to-Fall Transition Look

A soft, romantic look is the perfect summer go-to. But for Fall? It can be tricky to find the perfect look. Well, I am pleased to announce that I've figured it out! It's soft, yet edgy. Romantic, yet trendy. And it's really easy to do!

Step 1) apply a chocolate/gold to your eyelids. Don't go past the crease!

2) choose a brick blush, load your eyeshadow brush and blow off excess. Apply to crease, concentrating on the outside corners. Blend well.

3) apply a pink shimmery shadow over entire lid, crease an browbone to add some shimmer and help it to blend.

4) add highlight.

5) foundation! Set with powder.

6) apply brown liner to waterline and black to the top lashline.

7) sweep on mascara.

8) apply the same shade of blush that you used on your crease to the apples of your cheeks.

10) swipe some peachy pink/gold gloss.

Viola! You're done!

"Oh Wow!" Deal: CoverGirl Lipstain

Hey beauties! So, today my family decided to renew their Costco membership- and am I ever glad they did! I imedeatly went to the makeup section (go figure) and I found an amazing deal: 2 Covergirl Outlast Lipstains (in Sassy Mauve (420) and Teasing Blush (415)) and 2 moisturizing topcoats (clear) for $4.99. I can't remember how much these cost individually, but I love them! The colors are a little bright, but, being a glamour girl, they're just the right amount of drama for me. The topcoat adds a perfect shine and shimmer. Take advantage of these while they're at Costco... You won't be dissapointed!

Happy styling!

Summer Ocean Sunset

Summer is almost over! Soon the cutesy heeled sandals and hot pink nail polish will find their way into my seasonal bin and will be replaced by knee-high boots and sparkly red laquer. *Sigh.* I love fall but nothing beats the carefree summer days. As a salute to Summer, I decided to break out the brights and sparklies. I found the brightest bright blue and the most blingy glitter polish and came up with a look that I'm calling "Summer Ocean Sunset". All you need is a matte polish (I used Essence's Color and Go Let's Get Lost) in any color and a glitter laquer (Icing's Glitteratti) . Apply the matte color to all nails. Let dry. Apply one coat of the glitter to one nail. Let dry. Apply top coat. Now you're done!

Lyrics of the Day

When the sun goes down

when the lights burn out

then its time for you to shine

brighter than a shooting star

shine no matter where you are

fill the darkest night

with a brilliant light

cuz it's your time to shine

brighter than a shooting star

shine no matter where you are.

Contrasting nails are super cute this summer! Tonight, I used WetnWild fastdry polish in (purple) Buffy The Violet Slayer and (teal) Teal Of Fortune. **** WARNING: this polish isn't fast dry, though the bottle says it is ****

Get the chic look: apply one color to 4 nails. Brush a contrasting on one finger. Done!

Here's a picture of the results and the polish.

Summer Look

Summer weather has finally hit our area. It seems too good to be true, but after nearly a week of 80 degree weather, it's safe to say that SUMMER IS HERE! (Yay!!!! :D) Summer means beachy waves, bright colors, shorts and tank tops. It can be downright hard to look cute in the heat, though. Don't  worry, Princess is here to help!

What I do for my hair: Sunny days can wreck havoc on damaged locks. To repair and prevent damage, I recommend using the Garnier Fructis line. I usually use the shampoo and conditioner, but recently I started using the leave in stuff on my ends as well. I shampoo my hair once, condition it once with only a small bit of conditioner and massage it all over my scalp and ends, then rinse it out. I follow it by coating the ends of my hair with conditioner, twist it up and clip it up for a while and then rinse it in cold water. It works really well and leaves my hair SUPER soft! Finally, I put my hair up in a towel, let it dry a bit, put in a leave in conditioner on the ends and spray my hair with flat iron spray. It seems SUPER complicated, but really it's not, I promise. :)

For beachy waves: Skip the flat iron spray and instead, spray your hair with Not Your Mothers Beach Babe Sea Salt Spray. Scruch it until you begin to see waves and let your hair dry naturally. Viola, perfect beach waves with zero effort!

Easy beachy makeup: Effortlessly gorgeous makeup starts with beautiful skin. After washing your face, apply a BB cream. Let it soak in while you apply your eye makeup. I like to put a natural, matte shadow all over my eye and then apply a little cream colored shimmery highlight to my browbone. Then, I line the top lashline with a golden coppery color and line the bottom lashline with a teal color. I finish off the look with a brown mascara on the top and bottom lashes.

Now, on to the skin. If possible get a whipped mousse foundation. If you can't get your hands on that, (they ARE quite pricey) you can use a regular liquid foundation of your choice. Instead of using your fingers or a foundation brush, use a coarse blush/powder brush to dab the makeup on your skin. Pat to blend. Set it with a loose powder and you'll have amazing skin! Use a pink or peachy-pink blush on the apples of your cheeks and blend toward the hairline. Complete the look with a pinky-nude gloss and you're done!

That's it for this post. Stayed tuned for my next post on staying modest in Summer weather.

Miracle Oil

Just recently, I found something amazing: Vitamin E oil. It sounds silly, but this oil is magic! It moisturizes like none other. You can put it on your lips, your nails, anywhere! I like mixing some in with my lipgloss. You can also mix sugar in with the oil and exfoliate your lips with it. Afterwards, you can put it right on your lips for soft, wonderfully smooth lips. Rub it into your cuticles after painting them for supple cuticles. It adds a nice, natural shine when worn on bare nails.

Roadtrip in Style

Family roadtrips can be very stressful and often leave you spent with no extra energy. (I've been on quite a few... I know.) But you wanna look adorable, right? Here are a few tips to rock your Summer roadtrip!

  1. Over pack. I know, I know, you're told not to over pack, but think about it: if you have more clothes, you have more options. For example, I'm going to be gone for a total of 10 days, and I packed 13 shirts, a pair of jeans, a skirt, two pairs of shorts and 2 sundresses. Yeah, I went a little overboard! However, it all fits in one suitcase and I'm ready for any weather situation!
  2. Pack shrugs. Whether you bring T-shirts, tank tops or dresses, a shrug instantly ups the chic factor.
  3. Don't forget your makeup! A little waterproof mascara, concealer, tinted lip balm, lip stain, mattifying powder and a bright waterproof eyeliner are all you need.
  4. Flats are your friend. They're comfy and cute!
  5. Work with braids. They can be your best friend while on vaca. They keep your hair out of your face and they can give you killer waves for a night out.
  6. Follow what you think is best. Keep it modest, but go for YOUR style. Have fun with this... after all, Vacation is supposed to be fun!

Faking Perfect Skin

Does anyone really have perfect skin? I don’t think so. Actresses have pro makeup artists, special airbrush makeup  and photoshop that, when used right, can make them look flawless. So how does an ordinary girl get perfect skin?

In reality, you’ll never truly have unflawed skin, Every person’s skin is different and that’s the way God made us. We often see these differences as flaws and imperfections. To some extent, we can prevent these “flaws”, but some of the things that we may see as imperfections are made by God. You know that birthmark you have? It’s created by God, as is your skin tone, your skin type, even your acne. (I know, God only gives good things, right? Well, there’s gotta be some point to acne… even though I’m not sure what it is)

But, in my opinion it’s okay to wear makeup and want perfect skin… even if the perfect skin goal is unrealistic. And I’ve found out how to fake it.

Tips to fake the perfect skin:

·     Be sure to wash your face everyday, twice a day, morning and night. It’s important that you give yourself a good, clean canvas to start with before you put on your makeup. At night, it allows for your skin to breathe
·     Use moisturizer. It’s really important to give your skin a break and revitalize it. Moisturizer does just that!
·     Before putting on face makeup, use a primer. It covers up little imperfections and gives you a base to put your foundation or cover up over.
·     Blend foundation with your hands and don’t rub it into your skin. Instead, lightly pat it in.
·     Set your makeup with pressed or loose powder. It creates a gorgeous matte finish.
·     Blush makes you look awake and healthy! I love rosy pink colors.
·     Smile! That instantly brightens anyone’s face.

Black Widow Avenger Makeup Tutorial

This past Monday, a,k,a. Memorial Day, a group of friends and I went to the Avengers. (Yes, again J)I’m kind of an Avengers geek. I’ve seen it 3 times in theatre, seen Thor, Iron Man and Captain America many times over and I’m now planning to collect all the limited edition Dr. Pepper cans with Avengers on them. (Only 3 to go!) I noticed that Black Widow (portrayed by Scarlet Johansson) was wearing blue eyeliner in one of the scenes. (Actually, many of the scenes. I noticed it in the scene where she and Hawkeye were having the conversation about Hawkeye being “unmade”.) Her makeup was more understated here than it was in the first part of the movie. (In the first part, her whole eye was rimmed in thick, black liner. It’s a pretty classic if you look around, but a little boring for me.)

Scarlet has simply amazing blue eyes and this just accented the color. Since I have blue eyes, I decided to give it a try- and I’m glad I did!

This look is super simple. It’s fast, too! It all depends on the extra things you add. For example, you can keep this look really simple just do the liner, or you can go all out with a bunch of candy colored eyeshadow. I ‘m need to experiment somewhat, but so far I like somewhere in the middle. I can imagine that this would be super cute with some pastel pink shadow, though.

Without further Ado, here’s the Black Widow Inspired Makeup Tutorial!

Things needed to create the look:
Deep, but bright blue eyeshadow
Foundation/cover up
Natural colored eyeshadow
Mascara
Pressed powder
Blush
Highlighting powder (optional)
Black Liner or shadow(optional)
Eyeshadow brush
Angled eyeshadow/liner brush
Powder/blush brush

How to get the Black Widow eye look:

Wash your face. If you do nothing else, just do this.

Apply moisturizer to your skin and let it soak in for 2 minutes.

Apply primer (I like My Base by Essence)

Pat your foundation all over your skin using yours hands. (I find that it helps to blend the makeup better.) Don’t forget your eyes! Blend the edges like crazy.

Dust pressed powder all over your face, focusing on your forehead, nose and chin, also known as the t-zone. Don’t neglect powdering your eyes, as well, though.

Apply a light shade of natural colored eyeshadow to your eye. Apply highlight powder to your to your browbone.(You can skip this step if you’re in a rush)

Dip your eyeliner brush in your blue eyeshadow and line the top lash line. Try to keep it neat, but if it gets a little thick, that’s okay.

Apply nude lip gloss and blush on the apple of your cheeks.

Finish off with a coat of mascara and you’re done! You can do the following steps, but if you’re short on time or want the liner to really pop. This is Black Widow’s basic look from the movie.

For those of you who want a little more of a dramatic look, dip you liner brush in the black eyeshadow and line the lower lash line LIGHTLY. Keep it light and easy. Brush on some blush and highlight powder on your cheek bones, swipe on some mascara. Add nude gloss and smile! J You’re done!

Where Did This Come From?

He Calls Me Princess seems like a strange name for a beauty blog, doesn't it? The name comes straight from God. He's called me "Princess" multiple times. We are His sons and daughters. That makes us Princes and Princess, because He is the King above Kings.

And aren't all Princesses beautiful?
